.

i had an interview for brisol UWE on friday, it is AWESOME there!
honestly, most amazing place in the world, the illustration studios.. so MAD it's unbelievable!

in the third year you get your own office! AND there's a mac studio with a tonne of huge wacom tablets linked up to them!!
i could live in that room..
the studio stays open till 1am aswell! Cool

now i have to wait two weeks to see if they want me.. worst two weeks of my life, the waiting is killing me!

- anyway have any of you guys applied to uni?
i know some of you are doing art courses! how are they going?

hahah as far as i'm aware 6th form translates to the last two years of high school
as does an average english college course!
these are classed in the UK as "Further Education" - it was completely optional
but they just passed a law saying that EVERYONE has to stay in education untill aged 18! (end of further education)

After FE you can move onto university for a degree which is known as "higher education", so that would be starting college after high school in the US i think?
Basically in september i'm starting university, shauny is starting his second to last year of high school and mr lurker man is... well i'm not 100% sure what he's doing but it's probably kool! (he's in the same year group as me and in the UK you generally cant go forward or back years unless you are starting an FE course or an HE course as a mature student) Shocked

ah ok. so you're 6th form would be considered our grades 11-12 I suppose...grade 12 being the last grade before college and university.
we have a thingy called kindergarden (age 5-6 and usually only half a day) for the first year of school and then it goes grades 1-12 (not all in one school mind you, usually broken up between a couple different schools) and by the time most people graduate they are 17-18 depending on when their birthday is. Then we have a choice of going to college or university or going and getting a job...or in my case I took an exchange trip and headed to germany! As I recall It was while I was over there that I met you online edd! man...thats like what....3-4 years ago now??? Razz time sure flies eh?

Hahah four years? that is quite a while ago now.. !

yeah grades 11 and 12 for you are "years 12 and 13" for us. We start straight from when we start school at 5 (year 1), so no kindergarten.. although we do have playschool which is like.. ages 3-4-5ish? i think!

our schooling is split up with primary (years 1-6) secondary (years 7-11) and 6thform/college (12-13).
6th form is generally part of a secondary school so it's optional whether or not you want to stay on for it or go to a local college, It's also quite normal for someone to drop out at year 11 (Although slightly looked down upon jobwise).
Colleges generally do courses specifically for school years 12-13 although you can study there at any age, some also do basic degree courses!

okay education talk over! Very Happy

i don't know if i mentioned but i got into plymouth university and have put it as my first choice! - the facillities are amazing!!

I wanna go to Plymouth Uni (not really) and study Digital Art and Technology there. Tis the only uni in the country that does that so I suppose its quite convenient. Very Happy

That means I shall be taking Art and Design AS in year 13.

I already have an Art and Design AS but it is scottish which means it is invalid for me to take an A2 :/

That sucks about the scottish art degree! stupid anal english examboards!
- is the digital art degree at PCAD? or plymouth university? (they're next door to eachother) in any case you and davy may be joining me.. what? next september?

you should try and apply to a foundation year at south devon they might let you in regardless of grades depending on your portfolio!

plymouth university has AMAZING facilities btw - i was literally blown away and the studio's and library are 24-hour!
(thats a big plus for me becuase im a bit of a night owl)

lol, I went to the open day at the uni. It was good. Smile I'll be going to the uni hopefully. September 2009. I'll be seeing you and Davy in Plymouth if you decide to go to the PCAD.

There were so many macs at the uni. Hundreds of them. They made me sick. lol. xD
